Set it up (recommended: sign in with OAuth)

Zed connects to remote MCP servers and, when no Authorization header is configured, signs you in with the standard MCP OAuth flow.

1Open Settings, AI, MCP Servers, Add Server, Add Remote Server, and paste the URL. Or add the snippet to your settings file (zed: open settings file).
2Sign in to SnapRender when Zed prompts.
3Use the Agent Panel and ask for a screenshot.

Check it worked: In Settings, AI, MCP Servers, a green dot next to snaprender means the server is active.

With an API key instead

With a header set, Zed skips the sign-in: Get a key from your SnapRender dashboard.

Or run the server locally

Runs the open-source server from npm locally. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the key from your SnapRender dashboard. The package is snaprender-mcp on npm.

SnapRender renders public pages from its own servers, with ads and cookie banners removed. Pages behind a login and localhost are out of reach; use a preview deployment or a tunnel for local work.

Can the Zed agent see web pages?+

With a screenshot MCP server, yes: the agent calls the tool, gets the image back and can describe or act on it.
