Hosted MCP server, 11 tools

Give Cursor eyes on the web

Add the hosted SnapRender MCP server to Cursor in one click. Cursor can then screenshot any URL, compare devices and extract page content while it codes. OAuth sign-in, or an API key header.

200 renders a month free, no card. Sign-in happens inside Cursor the first time it uses the server.

Server URL: https://app.snap-render.com/mcp

Set it up (recommended: sign in with OAuth)

Cursor connects to remote MCP servers over HTTP and handles the OAuth sign-in itself.

  1. 1Click "Add to Cursor" above, or add the snippet to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (all projects) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project).
  2. 2Cursor opens a browser to sign in to SnapRender and approve access. A free account works.
  3. 3Open the chat and ask Cursor to take a screenshot.
~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "snaprender": { "url": "https://app.snap-render.com/mcp" }
  }
}

Check it worked: The SnapRender tools appear under Available Tools in the chat. You can switch the server on or off from Customize in the sidebar.

With an API key instead

Prefer a key over the browser sign-in, for example on a shared machine? Pass it as a header; Cursor expands ${env:...} from your environment. Get a key from your SnapRender dashboard.

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "snaprender": {
      "url": "https://app.snap-render.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer ${env:SNAPRENDER_API_KEY}" }
    }
  }
}

Or run the server locally

Runs the open-source server from npm on your machine instead. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with the key from your SnapRender dashboard. The package is snaprender-mcp on npm.

~/.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "snaprender": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "snaprender-mcp"],
      "env": { "SNAPRENDER_API_KEY": "YOUR_API_KEY" }
    }
  }
}

Prompts to try

  • "Take a full-page screenshot of https://stripe.com and tell me how the pricing section is laid out."
  • "Compare https://example.com on desktop and iPhone and list layout problems on mobile."
  • "Read https://example.com/docs as markdown and summarize the authentication steps."

SnapRender renders public pages from its own servers, with ads and cookie banners removed. Pages behind a login and localhost are out of reach; use a preview deployment or a tunnel for local work.

Questions

Can Cursor take screenshots of websites?+

Yes, with an MCP server that provides a screenshot tool. With SnapRender added, ask "take a screenshot of example.com on iPhone" and Cursor calls the take_screenshot tool and sees the image.

Does it work with Cursor background agents?+

The hosted server is a normal remote MCP server with OAuth, which is what Cursor agents use. If OAuth is not possible in your setup, use the API key header instead.
